Commission authorizes $35,655 transfer from York fund to support Special Olympics

The Park and Recreation Commission approved a resolution to transfer $35,655 from the York fund into an expense account to cover Special Olympics transportation, tournament fees and overnight accommodations as staff begin revitalizing the program in West Bend.
Carolyn told the commission there is $35,655 in the York fund as of June 30 and recommended transferring the balance to an expense account to cover Special Olympics costs, including transportation to tournaments and overnight accommodations.
"There is, as of June 30, there is $35,655 in that fund, transferring this to an expense account for, to cover expenses," Carolyn said. Staff reported they had met with Special Olympics earlier the same day and that the program is being revitalized in West Bend with new fundraising and outreach planned.
Commissioners moved to approve the resolution, the motion was seconded, and the transfer was approved by voice vote.
Staff said the transferred money will be used for athlete transportation, tournament fees and overnight housing as the local Special Olympics program expands.
