Cerri: SunPower bankruptcy complicates renewable energy plans; committee directs staff to reissue RFP

General Manager Catherine Cerri told the Executive Committee that renewable-energy project timelines have lagged and that SunPower has filed for bankruptcy. She said she has reached out to SunPower several times about equipment the District prepaid for and is consulting the law firm Best Best & Krieger.
Following that update, President John Wurm instructed Cerri to issue an RFP and add the RFP to the February Board agenda. Wurm also noted the District has the necessary land use approvals for the planned work. The committee did not vote on contract awards; staff will proceed with procurement steps and legal review.
