District says about 50 generators ran during mountain outages; one failed at Cedar Ridge

General Manager Catherine Cerri told the Executive Committee on Jan. 21 that the district sustained operations during recent mountain-region electrical outages by running approximately 50 backup generators to power pump stations, treatment plants and facilities. Cerri said one generator failed at Cedar Ridge and that the district previously used emergency equipment grant funds to acquire additional generators.
The committee discussed that field operations will include valve and hydrant maintenance and address community questions around fire preparedness at the Jan. 28 Board meeting. The Executive Committee did not take specific policy action on generator procurement or replacement at the Jan. 21 meeting.
