Engineer Jeff Shue told council it would be possible and cost-effective to coordinate storm-sewer improvements on Franklin Street and Country Club with a Columbia Gas project planned for the same area in 2027. Shue recommended bidding the storm-sewer work together with the borough's 2026 road work contract to reduce overall costs.
Councilmember Dennis Klinedinst raised concerns about the Franklin Street crosswalk that currently lacks a handicap-access ramp on the side opposite Franklin Social. Shue said he had recommended including the ramp in the 2026 bid package but cautioned that law limits requiring developers to perform work outside their scope, and he noted angling a crosswalk can increase pedestrians' time in the street.
