Resident urges council to correct "Catharine" Meyer spelling and broaden award eligibility

LuAnn Hildebrand told the council she had reviewed historical deeds and documents and urged the borough to correct a longstanding misspelling of the community figure's name. Hildebrand said the correct form is "Catharine" with an A and asked council to adopt that spelling for all future references.
Hildebrand also asked council to reconsider the award's residency requirement, saying many people who have contributed to the borough now live in nearby Windsor, York Township and Dallastown and would be excluded under the current rule. She closed by reminding council that the Historical Society will host an Open House on Jan. 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
