Board awards Ayala Engineering contract for 20-manhole I&I rehab; files CEQA Notice of Exemption

Engineering Manager Scott Schroder presented the annual I&I manhole rehabilitation project, describing crews’ work locating leaking or damaged manholes for repair or replacement to reduce infiltration and comply with the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board Cease-and-Desist Order (CDO).
Two contractors responded to the bid; Ayala Engineering was the lowest responsive bidder at $141,935. With a 15% contingency ($21,290) the Board approved the contract and estimated total project costs of $173,161 including engineering and inspection fees. Funds are provided from Wastewater Fund 210. The Board also authorized filing a Notice of Exemption finding the project categorically exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act.
The work covers 20 manholes and is part of the District’s multi-year effort to rehabilitate aging wastewater collection infrastructure to meet regulatory requirements.
