Comal County approves $97,000 IT security subscription updates and pays missed 2023 invoice

Comal County's information technology director told commissioners the county trialed additional cybersecurity products and recommended including two new services in the March renewal, producing a net new cost of $97,000. The services include a replacement for an existing communications product and a new identity-protection service intended to improve account security.
In a related item, the IT director said a 2023 invoice for the maintenance agreement was not requisitioned and therefore not paid to the reseller; however, according to the security vendor's accounts-receivable records, the county's vendor showed payment and the county did not lose service. Commissioners approved the software subscription funding and the payment to cover the missed 2023 invoice. The IT director said the oversight was discovered during renewal preparation.
