Several Wise Avenue residents asked Red Lion Borough Council on Oct. 13 to address what they said is an increase in speeding and large trucks on a street that runs parallel to Main Street, describing multiple close calls involving children.
Robert Means, of 609 Wise Ave, said he had "three close encounters where their children were almost hit," and other neighbors told council a resident with an autistic child can no longer play in the front yard because of traffic. Councilors recommended placing the borough's mobile speed-display unit on Wise Ave to collect data, asking the Penn State Police for targeted enforcement, and consulting PennDOT guidelines (Wise Ave is a liquid-fuel-approved road) before pursuing physical traffic-calming like speed bumps.
