Council hears safety and traffic concerns; training, signage and sightlines highlighted

Mark Holloway opened the public-safety portion of the work session and relayed several safety and enforcement concerns. He reported that required online training (listed in the minutes as "NIHMS") must be completed by each council member and said the Firefighter EIT ordinance and associated resolution were circulated to council and scheduled for a vote at the Oct. 13 meeting. Holloway also noted that York Dispatch asked the borough for information about a fee paid to the Pennsylvania State Police; council said it would provide information but declined to specify an amount at that time.
Holloway raised enforcement and traffic-safety items: "the painting of lines in the square are not easily followed on Broadway," he said, which had confused State Police; he also called out poor sight lines at the Church and Windsor intersection and suggested a no-right-turn or yield sign could help. Holloway asked that both Kathy and Tiff use the recently purchased body camera or that the borough purchase a second unit for Kathy. Council discussed footage retention and were told recordings would be used only for specific incidents and would not be kept by default.
