Board committee recommends Trane bid for courthouse HVAC at $1,001,244, pending consultant approval

The Building & Grounds committee reviewed procurement responses for courthouse HVAC replacements and recommended the Board approve Trane’s proposal for $1,001,244, pending final acceptance by consultant Thompson & Litton.
Assistant County Administrator – Development Clegg Williams said the County used cooperative procurement (Omnia) and that Thompson & Litton prepared design specifications. Trane submitted a compliant proposal at $1,001,244; Daikon submitted a $4.9 million system upgrade that Thompson & Litton found did not meet specifications and which priced a larger system rather than only replacing the two units that are down. The committee directed staff to require performance bonds and to authorize the County Administrator to execute the contract if Thompson & Litton approves the proposal.
A motion recommending Trane’s proposal was moved by Supervisor Courtney Widener and seconded by Vice Chair Mike Sturgill; the committee recommendation passed unanimously.
