Public works announces East Jefferson road closure and Angel Street water-main replacement
Summary
Public works staff said a culvert replacement at East Jefferson and Richter Road will close the road for an estimated 4–5 days, and an in-house water-main replacement on Angel Street will replace an aging, shallow cast-iron line that has broken multiple times in recent years.

Donnie, a public-works staff member, told the council the city will perform a large culvert (pipe) replacement at East Jefferson and Richter Road that will require a full road closure for "between 4 and 5 days." He said crews plan an open-cut installation followed immediately by asphalt paving and that the schedule will be coordinated to avoid the Blueberry Festival.
Donnie also reviewed a long-troubled water main on Angel Street between Ewing Street and the south end, saying the cast-iron main was installed too shallowly and has experienced repeated failures: "We probably had 4 to 5 breaks," he said. He told the council the city will do the pipe installation in-house with an excavating contractor handling the digging; homeowners could be off service for roughly "1 to 2 hours" during connection. The council did not vote on either project tonight; staff presented timing and coordination details and will return with further scheduling and notification plans.
