Slaughterville approves temporary site use, touts $2,500 sponsorship for 2026 fireworks show

Mayor Steve Easom and the Board approved a Temporary Use and License Agreement with Sippidee Do-Dah LLC to secure private property for the town’s 2026 fireworks show. Trustee Brad Luby made the motion and Trustee Herb Rousey seconded; the vote was unanimous in favor.
Town Administrator Carol Lance announced, "the community fireworks show will have vendors, food trucks and the live band, Blackwater Smoke," and reported that OEC has provided a $2,500 sponsorship for the event — its second year as a sponsor. Lance also said the county fire department will participate in a "Touch a Truck" activity and that pavilion reservations are now available on the town website once migration is complete.
The board was told the town's special-event insurance coverage through OMAG already covers this event at no additional premium. The approval included a standard town requirement that the property be secured under a formal license so OMAG coverage applies. The board took no separate vote on event operations or vendor permitting, which will follow ordinary town permitting procedures.
The temporary-use motion was recorded as: mover — Brad Luby; second — Herb Rousey; vote — Grady, Easom, Luby, Snellbaker, Rousey (YEA).
