Caledonia County Sheriff Brandon Thrailkill told the Sutton Select Board on June 25 that his office has reached full staffing after recent hires and is preparing to pursue additional town contracts to fund operations. He said the department hired a deputy who will also serve as dispatcher and that the office handles its own dispatching rather than using Vermont State Police services.
Thrailkill said the department will no longer limit coverage to a standard 8 a.m.–4 p.m. schedule and is exploring varying coverage hours to meet towns’ needs. He asked municipalities to begin conversations about contract levels before budget season; he said contract packets should be issued between October and November so towns can consider changes in their upcoming budgets.
