Superintendent Susan said the profile grew from a task force that included students and staff and will guide instruction and communication across K–8 campuses.
"All students are empowered to achieve and thrive," the superintendent summarized as the vision statement that informed the profile. Students who participated in the task force described concrete classroom behaviors tied to each competency: one student said a critical thinker "sounds like participating in discussions, supporting opinions, and thinking with evidence," while another emphasized that Socratic seminars help students defend a viewpoint.
Staff described next steps: communicate the profile to staff immediately, share with families, and work with student council to identify age‑appropriate lessons and assessment prompts. The board said the profile will be taught explicitly and embedded in classroom routines and praised the student voices used to shape the competencies.
