Hermosa Vista students showcase Wit & Wisdom curriculum at board meeting

"I'm Noah, Valley's ASB president," one student said as the group outlined guest speakers, stock-investing projects and student-led engineering lessons. Second-graders also spoke: "I noticed that everybody is holding blue umbrellas," Carter said of a painting used to teach close observation. Trustees repeatedly praised the students' presentation skills; President Jen Cole told the students, "You guys got a 10 out of 10, a plus."
Board members connected the classroom demonstrations to the district's recent curriculum adoption, saying Wit & Wisdom aligns with the board's push for more rigor. The superintendent and trustees noted the district had budgeted for a new language-arts program and recognized teachers for professional development to support adoption.
The student presentations immediately preceded the superintendent's report and were followed by board questions about classroom rollout and family communication plans.
