The Housing Resource Center has selected 27 families for a Housing Access Voucher Pilot, Commissioner Lacey Trimble told the committee. The county prioritized families with the most members and those who had been in hotel/motel or emergency housing the longest, using a lottery for selection.
Trimble said selected families received orientation and have three months of assistance to find apartments. "They currently have three families that have found an apartment, had it inspected with five more in the process of having inspections with the remaining families still looking for apartments that meet their needs," she said. Chairwoman Hill asked whether the county is seeing a demographic shift making single men harder to house; Trimble said she would ask the housing team and report back.
