Committee approves replacement of Mobile Command Vehicle and E‑911 hardware, plus radiological and garage design funding

Orange County’s Public Safety & Emergency Services Committee on March 25 approved several emergency‑services modernization measures, ranging from a new Mobile Command Vehicle to computer hardware replacements and planning funds for a new emergency garage.

Peter Cirigliano, Commissioner of Emergency Services, told the committee the county’s Mobile Command Vehicle was built in 2005 and has reached its end of life; the committee approved Project No. 31 to replace the MCV at $2.4 million (bonding). Gregory Schmid described the CAD‑related hardware replacement: "there are 180 computers, 350 monitors, and average recommended life cycle for the end user machine is 3 to 5 years which they are approaching," supporting a $370,000 appropriation for Project No. 29 to replace end‑user E‑911 computers and monitors. The committee also accepted a $200,000 Radiological Emergency Preparedness grant for SFY 2025–2026 from the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services; Arhtur Worden said the funds are for Indian Point readiness — including a utility vehicle, river gauges for flood‑prone areas and drone certification. Finally, the committee approved a $50,000 engineering/design appropriation for a new Emergency Services garage in the Town of Goshen and passed a SEQRA resolution classifying the action as Unlisted with a Negative Declaration.

All measures were approved unanimously; the meeting minutes do not list procurement schedules or vendor selections.
