Committee accepts $90,799 victim-services grant for Child Advocacy Center

The Human Services Committee unanimously approved a request to accept and appropriate $90,799 in grant funds from the New York State Office of Victim Services for the Child Advocacy Center covering the first three quarters of 2026. Genesis Ramos moved the request and Janet Sutherland seconded; the motion carried "All in favor."
Lacey Trimble told the committee the award represents a one-year extension of existing funding for Jan. 1–Sept. 30, 2026. On the subject of reporting rules, Trimble explained there was "a change in the New York State regulations and statute. The option of anonymous reporting was removed; however, if the report taker believes the reporting individual is under the age of 18, they will not need to provide their name."
The committee recorded unanimous approval and staff will proceed to incorporate the grant funds into the Department of Social Services 2026 budget as presented.
