Valley View reports rehab unit opening, admissions and staffing concerns after job fair

Laurence LaDue, Commissioner at Valley View, told the committee that the facility’s second rehab unit opened on Feb. 2, 2026, and will offer private rooms to rehab patients with a maximum of 36 rehab patients (18 per unit). "The second rehab unit opened on February 2, 2026, private rooms will be offered to rehab patients, and the maximum capacity will be thirty-six rehab patients (eighteen max for each unit)," LaDue said.
LaDue provided February operational details: 30 admissions (15 new, 15 readmissions), four deaths, five discharges to hospital and 12 discharges to home. He told the committee several people were hired as a result of a job fair and said he would supply follow-up information. Committee members and staff flagged transportation as an ongoing issue affecting recruitment and access; Chair Carter noted the county Transportation Task Force will examine that problem.
