Pump swap, deepening and rates: board weighs pump house fixes and financing

Director of Public Works Keith Leitzinger told the board a temporary pump installed at the pump house is drawing excessive amperage, indicating a motor overload concern. The contractor will swap the pump and investigate whether the static water level fall from roughly 75 feet to 112 feet is causing the overload. Leitzinger noted the well is about 860 feet deep and that the pump could be lowered further in the casing if required.
Clerk/Treasurer Shawna Atterbury said Johnson Block & Co. advised the village that replacing the pump house controller should be funded through the water utility fund rather than a general obligation loan tied to property tax levies. The firm also recommended consideration of a simplified rate case in the future and suggested sewer rates may need to increase as capital projects proceed.
