District updates on turf fields, floor bids and window replacements

Facilities staff briefed the board on several capital and maintenance projects. They said the turf fields installed after the 2019 referendum are now five years old and require annual GMAX testing (approximately $4,000) to assess shock-absorption performance; the results will determine whether additional work or infill is needed. "That usually runs around $4,000," staff said about the testing cost.
Staff also reported roofing and window projects moving toward completion at several sites, noted two credit-deduct change orders totaling about $100,000 returning to the district as projects close out, and said the JVAC floor and membrane replacement is expected to be put out to bid with a March award to allow summer installation. The board discussed warranty terms for turf (10 years) and asked staff to include coaches and program users in planning for any floor design changes for multipurpose use.
