Board hears two solar proposals for wastewater plant, asks for more review

Dave Pluym of Eagle Point Solar presented two proposals to install solar panels at the village wastewater treatment facility and explained that municipalities can receive a roughly 30% investment tax credit issued as a check.
Proposal one was a 29.8 kW DC system projected to offset about 25% of the plant’s electric bill, saving approximately $5,200 a year with a total installed cost of $72,293 and an estimated 7.3-year payback after a $21,000 ITC reimbursement. Proposal two was a 69 kW DC system estimated to offset about 59% of the electric bill, saving roughly $12,000 a year with an approximate total cost of $160,000 and a 7.1-year payback. The board discussed property-line constraints and nearby power lines and agreed to add the item to next month’s agenda for further review.
Trustees did not vote on the proposals at this meeting and asked staff to circulate full bid documents and site considerations before the next meeting.
