The buildings & grounds session covered multiple facilities items. Staff said Ecotrol is designing energy-management work for a wing at High School North as part of ESIP carryover funds and that security systems are operational though final closeout documents are pending from vendor JCT.
A recurring technical problem at High School North drew attention: multiple Nesbit unit ventilators are entering alarm states frequently, requiring daily resets and ongoing vendor diagnostics. Facilities staff said they are pressing the manufacturer and will not close out the project until the issue is resolved; the board asked staff to send a formal letter to the manufacturer.
On capital projects, staff identified Intermediate North boilers as the next replacement project, noting environmental remediation will be required for old insulation. The preferred construction window is summer 2025 into the 2025–26 school year pending budget approvals. Routine updates included a grant-funded playground installation at South Toms River, replacement dishwashers at multiple buildings, and upcoming window work at Westover beginning Oct. 14. Facilities reported 1,431 work orders in September with 1,190 completed and a 7.5-day average completion time.
