Salt Bowl Volunteer Fire Department seeks donations as youth camp grows to 129 participants

Peyton Lynch, speaking for the Salt Bowl Volunteer Fire Department, asked the board for support for the department's youth fire camp and described a program that has expanded from 18 campers in 2024 to 129 this year. "This year, we have a 129 children," Lynch said, and described two weeks of camps (June 22-26 for ages 5—, July 13-17 for ages 8—) that include drop-off at 8:008:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. pickup, free meals, T-shirts, backpacks and hands-on safety training with fire, police and EMS responders.
Lynch asked for monetary and in-kind support (meals, supplies), said the department fronts costs and that registration remains flexible so no child is turned away. Board members suggested Wellspring Foundation and Walmart grant possibilities and asked Lynch to return to a July board meeting with a budget and packet materials for the board to consider a donation.
