Burke said the student had chronic absences earlier in the year related to documented illness and family changes but has since improved, noting that the child "has only been absent from school 1 day since February 24" and that her last tardy was Jan. 27.
Burke asked the board to take into account Dylan's current attendance and strong academic standing rather than focusing solely on earlier absences. President Barrow and staff acknowledged the request and said they would look into the matter and follow up with the family.
