Staff credited the PTO for a new transportation arrangement that covers buses for away games, saying the PTO contributed $15,000 to create reliable travel for teams. The district also added a parent component — a code of conduct — to the 2025–26 athletics form to set behavior expectations for parents at events.
Board members asked for more disaggregated data: gender breakdowns, whether students play multiple sports, and equity options for students who cannot join travel teams. One board member noted concern about access: “It becomes an equity issue of them playing for club,” and urged the district to explore clinics or non‑travel teams to broaden participation. Athletics staff said they are exploring intramural and lunch‑time options, esports pilots and local tennis partnerships to grow offerings without overburdening field and daylight resources.
The board expressed support for community partnerships and volunteer coaching, and directed staff to continue work on equitable access and equipment funding ahead of the spring season.
