Residents urge PFA to increase affordable housing at Sacramento Yards to 25%
Summary
Multiple residents told the Public Financing Authority that the current plan for Sacramento Yards leaves too few affordable units—commenters said the plan designates roughly 6% of 10,000 units as affordable—and they demanded a 25% affordability target, anti-eviction funds and a grocery store in the redevelopment.

Several residents used the public-comment period to press the Public Financing Authority to renegotiate Sacramento Yards affordability commitments and to increase direct benefits to long-term neighbors. Nancy Williams, who identified herself as a resident near the rail yards, told the authority: “Necesitamos una tienda de comestibles, necesitamos un 25 por 100 de viviendas asequibles y fondos contra los desahucios.”
Williams and other commenters said the current plan would reserve roughly 6% of 10,000 units as affordable, a share they described as inadequate for preventing displacement. Commenters asked the PFA and municipal staff to require a higher percentage of permanently affordable housing, dedicate funds to prevent evictions, and ensure on-site services such as grocery retail. The board adopted the presented budgets and report at the meeting; no amendment to the affordability targets was made during the session.
