RSD17 plans Raptor software, fob replacements and Whitehouse basement remediation

Director Karen Asetta reported three emergency facility items: implementation of Raptor visitor software and hardware to meet Connecticut safety requirements at an estimated cost of $10,000 to be completed on the first day of school; replacement of obsolete door fobs at BES at a cost of $7,280 with a planned FY2026 rollout for all schools; and remediation of a basement leak at the Whitehouse building. Staff engaged HazPro to repair sheetrock, decontaminate and clean the Whitehouse basement, with work expected to be completed by August 15 at a cost of $13,750.
The committee asked for additional information about how KES will handle safety when voting occurs in the school; Director Asetta will bring that information to the next facilities meeting. These items were presented as emergency needs to ensure compliance and safety ahead of the 2025–2026 school year.
