John Verity, the district's safety and security officer, presented the Office of Safe Schools' quarterly compliance update and described the statutory inspection process. "As you know, by state law, the office of Safe Schools conducts, unannounced inspection visits, at each campus at a minimum of once every 3 years," he said, and noted two of three visits in the most recent quarter were in compliance while one corrective action was filed for an unlocked door.
Verity said the corrective action was accepted after the district committed to a 100% locking practice for that door type on the day it was flagged, and he promised a summary of the four reports at the next meeting. He praised campus staff and recordkeeping and said inspectors complimented documentation of compliance.
