The council unanimously adopted Resolution 07-26 to update the city's master fee schedule, including new public-records fees and adjustments to miscellaneous charges such as newsletter advertising and staff callout rates.
"We were selling a full page black and white ad. To print and mail that page, it was costing us about a $140, and we're selling it for 75," City Administrator Ron Harding said during his presentation, explaining why the city increased certain newsletter ad rates and will discontinue some free ads previously offered to service groups. Harding added that staff hourly rates for non-emergency callouts have not been adjusted in several years and were updated to reflect current costs. Council members praised the clearer spreadsheet-style formatting included in the packet and voted to adopt the resolution without further amendments.
The adopted updates also include public-information request charges aligned with state legislation; Harding said some specific limits are set by state law and therefore were memorialized in the fee schedule. Council approved the measure by voice vote; staff said the new fee schedule will be posted for public access.
