Board approves $102,960 contract for school psychologist services

The board approved a professional-services contract with a licensed school psychologist to increase the district’s capacity to complete evaluations and provide services.
Joel Vayner, assistant director of exceptional learners, said the district conducted an RFP and determined that contracting directly with a licensed individual yielded a lower rate than hiring through staffing agencies. "The rate you see on the contract is significantly less than what we got through many of the staffing agencies," Vayner said. The contract amount was described in the agenda as not to exceed $102,960 and the board approved the item on roll call with six yeas.
Administrators said the additional capacity is needed to meet legal obligations for evaluations and services and to reduce reliance on expensive agency staffing.
