Traffic-calming plan: radar signs, education and possible golf-cart restrictions planned

District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the draft Traffic Calming Assessment 2025 and described Tier 1 and Tier 2 measures. Mr. Krebs said three permanent and one mobile speed radar signs will be delivered the first week of February and that initial education-based road, bike and golf-cart safety measures are underway; he reported that speeding violations have decreased.
Eric Long asked Mr. Krebs to update Page 9 to include the Traffic Study conclusion and Board members were asked to flag any areas needing additional review. The board discussed installing 'Do not pass golf cart' signs at the front entrance and crosswalks; Pelican Sound Board is reportedly considering modifying traffic-violation language in its bylaws. Staff also noted community outreach initiatives such as Safety Saturday events.
