Recreation staff: picnic rentals start Feb. 1; music, movies and community events planned

Staff noted constrained indoor space and limited staff capacity, invited volunteers and partner organizations to support programming, and said the Willamette River polar plunge was discontinued. The board discussed potential use of vacant school facilities for programming and directed staff to continue exploring partnerships and lease options where feasible.
Staff also flagged a potential August street event coordinated by Willamette Main Street with a special-event permit in process; the city will review police and public-works signoffs in coming months.
