Parks board reviews draft 2026 schedule, aims to align with council priorities

Vicky Handy, co-chair of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, presented a draft 2026 meeting schedule and a two-page list of City Council priorities for the board to use in its work planning.
"The other thing that I handed out was our, draft from the 2026 Parks and Rec Advisory Board schedule is with the 1 page, it's black and white. Nothing on here is in stone," Handy said, asking members to review dates and suggest changes before next month.
Board members discussed shifting the non-meeting month from August to July so the board can provide a budget update after the June budget committee meetings. Members also agreed to move a planned policy-review item back a couple months to allow time for input and to invite outside presenters (for example, Vision 43 or the Waterfront Project lead) to provide overviews.
The board agreed to finalize the schedule at the March meeting and then forward the approved calendar and the board's annual report to council. Staff committed to circulating a revised draft and a final review prior to the next meeting.
