The council approved the mayor’s recommended community advisory group appointments at the end of the Dec. 9 meeting. The motion listed nominees for several boards and committees — including the Arts & Culture Commission, Community Involvement Committee, Economic Development Committee, Planning Commission, Police Review and Recommend Committee and the Sustainability Advisory Board — and the council voted to confirm the slate.
Council members discussed a potential recusal concern for a Planning Commission candidate (who had previously testified on a topic before the commission) and agreed that recusal from any relevant decision would be appropriate if the situation arises. Council also noted there were outstanding vacancies on other advisory bodies (library, transportation and utilities) that staff will bring back for consideration in January. The motion to approve the mayor’s appointments carried on roll call.
