Council approves IGA with Pioneer Community Center to continue senior services
Summary
Council approved a multi‑year intergovernmental agreement with Oregon City's Pioneer Community Center to continue nutrition, transportation and social services for West Linn seniors; staff said West Linn's annual payment has been roughly $41,000 in recent years.
Parks director Megan Big John and Cecily Rose, manager of the Pioneer Community Center in Oregon City, presented a proposed intergovernmental agreement to continue adult community services for West Linn residents.
Cecily Rose said the Pioneer Center provides a wide range of services to seniors and people with disabilities and that the two cities have partnered on this work since 2008. "Last year, the Pioneer Community Center provided 6,100 meals for West Linn residents on the Meals on Wheels program, and we also provided 253 meals through our congregate dining program," Rose told the council. She also said the program delivered 1,787 one‑way transportation units for West Linn residents and provided volunteer support worth an estimated $314,069.
The council moved, seconded and approved the IGA, which includes a revised budget and renewal options to extend the agreement for multiple years and annual CPI adjustments. Council thanked the Pioneer Center for the partnership and indicated interest in volunteering for Meals on Wheels events.
