Diana Koechler said, “We’re getting the keys on March 1, so we’re very excited about that,” and explained that the customer service center and TOD are deliberately co-located so every SMART route will begin and end at the facility. SMART described the TOD as a cornerstone of its equity-oriented planning and as a way to connect residents directly to jobs and services via the transit hub.
Councilors praised SMART’s approach and asked staff to coordinate communications and outreach around the customer service center opening and how route schedules will connect with local transit partners.
