Residents press Oak Park MAC on speeding, service-ticketing and tree removals

At the meeting’s public-comment period, residents raised several neighborhood concerns the Council agreed to pursue.
Tom Seedman said speeding and e-bike activity on Conifer Street (between Kanan and Medea Creek) pose safety risks and requested additional speed signs and safer park-adjacent paths. Chair Michelle Santucci noted speed studies had been conducted last fall and asked staff to provide the study results.
Resident Eric Steiner said he receives little or no acknowledgment after filing public-works tickets and asked who to contact for updates. Council members described mixed experiences; Michelle Santucci pointed to Supervisor Gorell’s office and identified a staff member (Crystal) as a point person. JL Diaz asked about county response-time standards; members said a consistent acknowledgement would be helpful.
A resident identified only as Carolyn asked about the sidewalk maintenance program and requested an arborist report and community discussion before tree removals, referencing a tree removed at Kanan and Smoketree. Chair Santucci said the removed tree will be addressed in the tickler log and the MAC will share policies related to tree removals.
The Council directed staff to follow up with the cited departments and to bring tickler-log updates and any relevant study results to a future meeting.
