The Randolph County commissioners opened bids for a rebid of the county jail HVAC renovation and turned both submissions over to the county’s consulting engineer for review.
Chair (speaker 2) read the first submission as coming from John L. Maxwell doing business as Maxwell Construction Company — “that bid is $7,714,000.” Commissioners then read a second bid from Carroll Electric of Richmond, Indiana, listed at $6,576,000; staff noted one duplicate packet. The bids were formally handed to Tony Jacobs of Argo Consulting for evaluation.
Tony Jacobs confirmed Argo Consulting will review the bid documents and return recommendations to the commissioners at their next meeting on August 3. “Yeah,” Jacobs said when asked whether the timetable worked, and commissioners accepted that schedule.
No contract award was made at the opening. The bids will be evaluated for compliance, completeness and low bid status before the board takes any contract action at a later meeting.
