Council narrows community advisory groups priority, debates broader neighborhood association role

Several councilors agreed that the process is implemented but asked that the city continue to monitor and improve the advisory group structure and to consider stronger relationships with neighborhood associations. One councilor recommended a broader “community engagement” priority that would include CAGs, neighborhood associations and assistance for associations that are inactive.
Councilors asked staff to retain the structure and make sure the advisory groups and neighborhood associations are resourced and clear about expectations. Staff will reflect those refinements in the priorities document and capture specific monitoring and scheduling steps for phase‑2 implementation.
No vote was recorded; staff said they would work on language that preserves the ongoing CAG work while clarifying monitoring, improvement tasks and possible inclusion of neighborhood associations under a broader engagement rubric.
