Probation reports near-capacity day reporting, stalled SUNY Albany study and Project Recollect sale

The Department of Probation and Community Justice told the committee that day reporting is close to capacity — averaging 12–14 people daily in a program with space for about 15 — and that some capacity decisions may require discussions with judges about prioritization. Staff said a study with SUNY Albany on disproportionate outcomes for people of color is stalled by contract issues but that partners are meeting biweekly while the county resolves paperwork.
The department also said the community sale formerly called 'Dump and Run' has been renamed Project Recollect for trademark reasons and will run Aug. 17–23 at the Shops at Ithaca Mall, with proceeds benefiting local nonprofits. Probation staff noted progress on body-worn-camera procurement, policy and training through an Axon rollout and reported supervising 30 GIV offenders out of 523 adults under supervision.
