The committee reviewed options for holiday charitable efforts, including sponsoring a family identified through the fire department's Angel Tree program and coordinating with St. John the Baptist, Raise the Future and Don Ward-related refugee assistance groups. "They right now are up to 4 families, and they said there's a chance they can only do 3," the Chair said, asking whether the committee would like to sponsor one of the families.
Committee members also described recent outreach after a local tragedy: the Chair and another member visited a family whose son had died and the committee collected and delivered two blankets to family members. "We got them, 2 blankets, 1 for his aunt and then 1 for his family," the Chair said; members said the visits were appreciated and that the committee should clarify that Draper City does not pay for those gifts — the committee members contribute personally.
