At the Nov. 20 meeting commissioners reviewed the SHPO's stated order of CLG funding priorities and discussed how Draper might structure an application. Annie Ballmer summarized the SHPO preferences: "their 1st preference is they will fund projects that are for RLS surveys," followed by development and rehabilitation of National Register properties and then nominations and planning.
Members discussed grant sizes cited in the call (for example, RLS surveys and nominations in the $12,000–$15,000 range, smaller amounts for development projects) and noted their $10,000 annual match could be combined with homeowner matches or in-kind contributions. The commission agreed to ask SHPO staff clarifying questions about whether multiple project categories may be combined in one application and assigned Annie to contact the SHPO (Alina) for guidance.
Commissioners proposed outreach steps—targeted social-media posts, a newsletter series on registered homes, and targeted invitations to owners of National Register properties—to surface potential projects and nominations that could be part of an application.
