Council hears emergency-management review; part-time specialist proposed

Council members raised concerns that the original intent — to have the deputy fire chief carry the role or to maintain a dedicated part-time coordinator — had eroded and asked staff to explore options that preserve community engagement. “We need somebody who’s not part time because they need to be here to have phone calls, to have questions,” a council member said during questioning. Staff committed to return with several options, including budget timing for a FY26 implementation if the council wants to formalize a dedicated position.
