Two new officers to begin field training; grants reviewed with few viable options

Sgt. Sanfilippo reported to the council that two new police officers will qualify on May 29 and enter field training; he expects two officers to be working independently in about three months. Mayor Hutnick noted "we have four new people on the road."
Councilman DeMeo reported he reviewed a police-department grant with Sgt. Sanfilippo but found nothing usable for the borough at this time and said he was awaiting information from the fire department on a separate grant opportunity. The council will continue to monitor grant opportunities and staffing milestones.
