Council delays ORA’s Heaters Pond event approval over insurance questions

The council on May 27 declined to approve the Ogdensburg Recreation Association’s facility-use application for Heaters Pond, tabling the item after Councilman DeMeo said the borough had not received required responses to risk-management questions. Councilwoman Cowdrick initially moved to approve the application on behalf of ORA representative Michelle Nardini, but DeMeo asked that the application be tabled until insurance and risk-management issues are resolved.
Councilman DeMeo said he had reached out to the ORA president but had not received necessary updates; he told the council he could not support moving forward without the insurer’s recommendations. The motion to table carried on roll call. The item had been tabled at prior meetings (April 28 and May 12) and was brought back for reconsideration on May 27.
