Council appoints representative and alternate to two regional transportation bodies

Council appointed a primary and alternate to the San Fernando Valley Council of Governments and the Arroyo Verdugo Cities Joint Powers Authority and agreed to gather more information before deciding on a representative for the regional housing trust.
At the July 28 meeting, council members nominated and confirmed appointments to regional bodies that represent Glendale on transportation and intercity planning issues. Council member Brotman nominated council member Bartrossoff as Glendale elegate to the San Fernando Valley Council of Governments and to the Arroyo Verdugo Cities Joint Powers Authority; council member Garpetian was nominated as alternate for those bodies.
The clerk read the staff report for item 10a, which listed motions to appoint members and alternates to: (1) San Fernando Valley Council of Governments, (2) Arroyo Verdugo Cities JPA, and (3) the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Regional Housing Trust. Council discussed conflicts of time and existing service; staff agreed to provide additional information about meeting frequency and responsibilities for the regional housing trust before a final assignment is made.
The motion to appoint council member Bartrossoff as primary and council member Garpetian as alternate to the two transportation bodies passed by roll call.
Next steps: staff will provide meeting frequency and workload information for the regional housing trust to help council members decide who will serve as primary and alternate.
