Sky Ridge principal highlights TK–8 transition, library awarded CSLA mini‑grant

Christy Ade, principal of Sky Ridge School, presented the campus’s first year as a TK–8 site and highlighted new programs, support services and student activities. "Welcome to a new kind of Sky Ridge," Ade said, noting the school adopted middle‑school grade levels this year and that the Falcon Friend cross‑age program has helped middle‑school students support younger classrooms.
Ade described expanded academic and social‑emotional supports, including increased reading intervention (from three to five days weekly), MTSS data reviews and a full‑time counselor and wellness center that provide outreach and small‑group lessons. She said the school will continue to refine curriculum usage (I‑Ready) and cited falling chronic absenteeism as evidence of progress.
Staff asked the board to approve a mini‑grant from the California School Library Association Northern Region to update Sky Ridge’s library collection for middle‑school readers, add sports and science materials, and refresh signage and early chapter books. The board approved the grant at tonight’s meeting.
Why it matters: the additions aim to support students academically and socially as the campus moves to a TK–8 configuration, and the grant will target materials needed for older readers who were newly added to the site.
