Jackie Cordero, Avalon’s public works director, told the council the department has several installation projects approaching completion but has experienced delays. "We are making good progress. It's just taking time," Cordero said, noting projects including the JMF scoreboard, the Phoenix system at 3 Palms and the Sombrero Fountain, and routine tasks such as pressure washing, bench work and hole patching throughout town.
Cordero said staff are implementing a fleet‑management system to track inventory, preventative maintenance, labor hours and parts, and have developed a facilities condition assessment and a weekly documented tailgate safety training program for maintenance crews. She apologized for schedule slippage and asked for patience while the more complicated projects are finished.
