Dover resident accuses town employee of using town equipment for personal work during heated public comment

Jay Anderson (speaker S6), identifying himself as "Jay Anderson, Dover Plains," used the public-comment portion of the meeting to accuse a town official, named in the comment as Jason Satori, of using town equipment, fuel and staff to cut, load and deliver firewood to heat properties the official owns. Anderson said the practice is improper and raised concerns about liability and favoritism.

"He's using town fuel, town men, town equipment to deliver firewood to his house to rent to to heat his properties that he owns on his property," Anderson said, challenging the board to explain the practice and vowing to publicize the alleged conduct if the town did not act. The Supervisor (S1) responded that the vehicle in question is assigned to the official, that similar practices occur in other municipalities, and pushed back on Anderson's characterization. The exchange grew heated, with back-and-forth about insurance coverage, assignment of vehicles and whether prior employees had been disciplined for similar conduct. The board did not take formal action on the allegation during the meeting; it remained a public comment and the Supervisor said residents should provide comparative examples for the town to review.
